THERMOSTATIC STEAM TRAP
Thermostatic steam traps consist of a bellows assembly or
bimetallic assembly.
Operation :
Bellows traps employ only one moving part - a liquid filled
metal bellows - which responds quickly and precisely to the
presence or absence of steam. During startup, the trap s
normally open, removing air and non-condensibles. After
condensate is discharged, the heat from arriving steam causes
the bellows to expand and close the valve.
The usual valve operating position is neither closed nor open,
but rather in a modulating position between the two extremes.
this allows for better condensate removal and better
efficiency
Advantages :
- Perfectly adapted to the pressure/temperature curve of
steam;
- Large capacities;
- Very little sensitivity to back pressure;
- Small size, installs anywhere;
- Installs in any position;
- Uniformity of parts, thus smaller maintenance inventory.
Exclusive to Nicholson : Thermostatic traps may be
slected with a Fail Open option, or a Fail Closed
option
